There are many ways to Machu Picchu and one of the most exciting is the Inca Jungle. The Inca Jungle is a perfect adventure tour that involves activities like: Biking, Rafting, Zipline, and Hiking the original Inca Trail. All our guides have extensive knowledge of the area where they operate. We give you our best to make from it a positive and unforgettable experience that will last a lifetime.

Day 1: Cusco - Malaga Pass - Santa Maria

 

We start the day by picking you up at your hotel at 6:30 am. We will begins with a bus journey for 2 hours. Then we still driving 40 minutes up to Malaga Pass (4.300m), and this is where the fun begins, following a 15 minute briefing and provide reliable mountain bikes and protective gear.

A back up vehicle usually drives behind of you and if you get tired or wish to stop, you can jump in the car. The route from the top of Malaga Pass to the final destination is all downhill (4.316m to 1.196m) and just less than 60Km in distance to the town of Huamanmarka.

From there, we continue our journey by our bus for approximately 30 minutes until we reach our Eco Lodge located in an extensive private reserve of cloud forest where we have our first lunch and spend the first night. However this is where you have a choice to go white water Rafting (Grade III and IV rapids for 1 hour). After great adrenalines we will return to our Eco Lodge where a warm dinner is waiting for us then if you like you may be part of the small celebrations with a bonfire.

 

Day 2: Santa Teresa - Quellomayo - Santa Teresa

 

This is the day when the real hiking begins after all the fun on day 1! Total distance (18Km), but all at low altitude. You will experience the most beautiful sights along the hike we will see rivers, waterfalls, wild orchids, and plantations of coffee, banana, and avocado. You can taste the famous organic coffee! And much more, Don´t forget that you are in the Inca Jungle so you will encounter many different birds and even some monkeys on a good day! The highlight of the morning is arriving to the top of the mountains where you will have simply incredible views of the original Inca Trail and see follow the paths they created hundreds of years ago. Your guide will transport you to the time of the Incas and will explain a bit more about our history. Afterwards, the trek continues along the surging Urubamba River, crossing it at one point in a cart and pulley, safe yet thrilling!. After you will enjoy the refreshing natural hot springs of Colcamayo close to the village of Santa Teresa. After having enjoyed this hot springs we continue 10 minutes to our second lodge. Here we will spend our second night in a comfortable Eco lodge.

 

Day 3: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes

 

On day three we will have the opportunity to do the Zipline activity with one of the highly trusted operators in the area. This activity is optional and lasts approximately two hours.

After breakfast in our Eco Lodge we go to the ziplining base to start doing the activity for about 2 hours zipping through the six different cables that there is for the ziplining. Then we catch the transportation to the hydroelectric power plant to have our lunch and resting for a while. Then you start the last part of the hike to Aguas Calientes for 3 hours more along the train track. Once you arrive in the small town, we take you to the hostel where you have time to rest showering. Around 6:30 pm the guide will organize the last supper in the restaurant in Aguas Calientes. After we go to sleep because the next day you need to start very early to go to Machu Picchu.

 

Day 4: Machu Picchu - Cusco

 

This is the most important day of the tour, today you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The tour will start very early, to appreciate the sunrise in the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Our day will start with the option of hiking or taking the bus ($12).

If you have chosen the option of hiking you need to wake up around 4:00 am to get ready for the hike to Machu Picchu main entrance. After you grab your breakfast, you start walking to Puente Ruinas checkpoint for 30 minutes which is open at 5:00 am where you have to show your passport and your Machu Picchu tickets. After you pass the first checkpoint, you will hike all upstairs for one hour to Machu Picchu main gate to be there around 6:00 am. Once everybody meets at the gate, you go into Machu Picchu for the guided tour for 2 hours to learn everything about The lost city of the Incas. After the guided tour you have free time to explore on your own the Inca city of Machu Picchu.

After visiting the area of Machu Picchu you have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take a train at 18:20 to Ollantaytambo for 1.5 hours then by car to Cusco for 1.5 hours more to arrive in Cusco. Arrival to Cusco is generally around 10:30 pm.
